This week, Hoxton Radio checked out a preview of a new exhibition showcasing the work of visual activist Zanele Muholi at the Tate Modern.
The exhibition marks the first major UK survey of Muholi’s work. It presents over 260 photographs spanning the full breadth of their career, from their early series Only Half the Picture to on-going series Somnyama Ngonyama, in which Muholi turns the camera on themself.
The widely-acclaimed photographer first came to prominence in the early 2000s with photographs capturing the lives of black lesbian, gay, bixesual, trans, queer and intersex people in South Africa.
The Tate Modern is sadly currently closed, with the exhibition set to reopen in December. More info and tickets here.
